As many of you know Haiti was recently hit with a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The Earthquake hit Port-au-Prince and devastation followed. As of now this terrible tragedy has not affected our trip in March it has affected our desire as dental students to provide not only dental care, but other care as well. We have been having clothing (ESPECIALLY SHOES!) drives at school and have started a nice collection of items to bring to Haiti with us. Donations are very much appreciated as they help to pay for the items necessary to perform care for the Haitians.
Right now our plans to travel to Haiti are still solid. We already have plane tickets and have been working closely with our contacts at the Haitian Health Foundation. We are still short of our goal and really appreciate any monetary donation you can give.
I heard on the radio the other day a great quote as follows, “Before the earthquake the Haitians had nothing, now they don’t even have that.”
Please think of the past year, and look at this upcoming year. We have been blessed with so many great things that we take for granted! Remember that every little bit counts!
